Football

Hey, did anyone pick the 0-3 Atlanta Falcons to win today???? Jake did - here's to hoping that mom and Jake can hold on to their 1st place. Now if we can get those Panthers to get some points we'd be in great shape!!! WE LOVE FOOTBALL!!!!!!

Rock On

Well Dylan has a new thing to do. Jake has taught him how to hold up his hand in the "I love you" pose (pinky, pointer, and thumb up) and say ROCK ON. It takes him a minute or so to get his fingers right and than he displays his hand and speaks in a gravelly voice. It is too cute!

Mt. View Open

July was the Mt. View Open Karate Tournament. There were over 300 competitors from all over including Maryland! Jake first competed in his Kata where there were 4 kids competing. Jake took home 2nd place. He also tried his hand in open forms where he created his own kata with no help from any of the adults (except for mom). There were only 2 kids in this division and Jake took 2nd place - he did a great job! Jake's fav event is sparring and there were 8 competitors. Jake took home a first place and a bloody nose! The first match had him competing against a child from Maryland and it was a great match - the other child accidentally hit Jake in the nose which caused a nose bleed and also caused the other child to be disqualified (accident or not - any drawing of blood is an automatic disqualification). The second match was also a close match and Jake was declared the winner by one point. But the other child's coach disagreed with a kick that was scored as 1 pt and he felt it should have been a 2 pt kick which would result in a tie. Not knowing what to do, we let it go and Jake went back up to face the child in a tie breaker next point wins. Jake landed a 2 pt kick to the head and won! The final match for 1st and 2nd had Jake going against a child he had lost to at the previous 2 tournaments - Jake won by 2 pts. It was a great day!

Getting Started

Well I decided to start this site to help relay information about our activities to family and friends. The goal is to post Jacob's karate events and outcomes, Dylan's antics, and to share information about our adoption. Have fun!
